[INTERNE] Smart capacitive sensors: how to make something new out of the old

Résumé : As capacitive sensors are already widespread in our environment as humidity sensors, MEMs pressure sensors, MEMs Accelerometers, chemical and biological sensors, or for electrical impedance spectroscopic measurements, one could think of a mature technology. However, when I started developing capacitive sensors for lab applications and later smart sensors for Industrial IoT applications while starting Kapflex company, I faced major drawbacks of the technology: lack of reproducibility, sensitivity to electrical perturbations. In this seminar, I will present a very simple electrical model that captures most of the sensor performances and that solves several problems. I will illustrate some developments from short scientific movies and discuss future opportunities in or out of the lab.
