Research Themes

My research consists of studying by means of atomistic molecular simulations (Monte Carlo or Molecular Dynamics) the properties of fluids, electrolytes, and materials confined in nanoporous solids (pore size in the range 0.1 nm to 50 nm). The aim of this research is to complete experimental studies and gain fundamental insights on the role played at the nanoscale by surface forces and confinement on adsorption, wetting, condensation, solidification, etc. An important point in my work is to consider both ideal and realistic systems in order to identify the effect of the properties of the porous materials on the thermodynamics and dynamics of the confined system. My research can be subdivided into three main areas : (1) Adsorption and Transport in Porous Materials, (2) Freezing and Crystallization in Pores, and (3) Ion Adsorption and Transport in Porous Media
